Top Midge Fly Patterns

One of the only aquatic insects able to complete an entire life cycle in the cold temperatures we experience in the Yellowstone Region. Midges are one of the most important food sources for us fly anglers to imitate, especially during winter. Many rivers in the Yellowstone region have excellent midge hatches that offer some of the best dry fly fishing of the year. While midges can hatch any day of the year, they are most prevalent to us anglers from November to April. Check out my top midge flies below.
