About Me
Hi, I'm Nick!
Like many anglers, I grew up conventional fishing. This is thanks to my dad, who introduced me to fishing as soon as I can remember. When I was sixteen, I was invited on a fly fishing trip with my wife’s family, whose father is an avid fly fisherman. I was stubborn, self-absorbed, and close-minded about fly fishing and the whole experience. My ego took the lead most of the day, and it took me a while to pick up the fly rod. Eventually, I gave the fly rod a try, and little did I know that this decision would change the trajectory of my life.
My previous dreams and aspirations for my life vanished, and I found myself on a river in Montana just a few years later.
My ego and lack of curiosity almost held me back from discovering my passion for fly fishing. Since that day, I have prioritized curiosity and openness to new ideas in life and in fly fishing. This is what The Curious Angler is about. To inspire fellow anglers to continuously learn on and off the water by highlighting the uniqueness of fly fishing in the Yellowstone Region.
Why The Curious Angler? The Curious Angler is about the fish, bugs, and views of the Yellowstone Region. The blog is where I share my excitement for fishing this region by journaling my experiences, sharing what I learn, and what I am curious about. The goal is to help and connect with other anglers who love the region and want to protect it for years to come. I look to humbly teach and learn through this community, with great respect for those who have fished these rivers well before me. The rivers and lakes of this region are special, and I want to share my passion for fishing and protecting them with those who feel the same.
Who is The Curious Angler For? The Curious Angler is for DIY anglers who fish in the Greater Yellowstone Region and love these historic waters and the flies that catch fish in them. It’s for anglers who believe there is always more to know and enjoy the full experience that fly fishing offers. If that is you, I believe there is something to learn or enjoy here.
I appreciate your support as I grow The Curious Angler. The greatest benefit I could receive is the connections I make and the insights I learn from other amazing anglers. Please engage and reach out if you love fly fishing in this area and connect with my mission. And most importantly, stay curious out there!
