Heading To New Zealand

There is nothing better than the anticipation of an upcoming fishing trip. Filling fly boxes with more than enough flies for a few days of fishing. Spooling reels with fresh lines. Building leaders and checking every knot. Mapping rivers and fishing access sites. Watching every YouTube video and reading every article you can find on the destination. It extends the life and builds excitement for an upcoming fishing trip.

New Zealand is world-renowned for its epic scenery and unique fly fishing experience. Clear rivers, sight fishing, sandflies, cicadas, wind, rolling hills, dramatic mountains, and big trout.

My wife and I leave for the South Island of New Zealand on Saturday. This trip has been in the works for two years. Saving money, accumulating vacation days, and planning the itinerary. The excitement couldn’t be higher as we set foot on the biggest adventure of our lives. It’s truly a trip of our dreams, and I feel so grateful to be making it happen.

The blog will take a two-week break while we travel. I wish you a great few weeks of fishing in the meantime. I am just as excited to get back and fish another season in Yellowstone country, but until then, I will test my skills on the trout in New Zealand.

Thanks for following along, and stay curious out there,

Nick
